Focus On Removing Stubborn Pigmentation To The Face & Body

What Is It?

For pigmented areas we use multiple light therapies depending on the situation. IPL blasts a broad-spectrum of light that converts to heat and is absorbed by melanin or hemoglobin, damaging the unwanted areas. Your body then clears the damaged debris naturally. Our Nd:YAG is similar but penetrates deeper into the skin creating a controlled heat to coagulate or break down the targeted melanin or hemoglobin. Q Switch is different in that it has an ultra-short photoacoustic effect shattering pigment particles without much surrounding heat damage. All create a healing cascade where the immune system clears the debris. Alongside the removal of pigmentation, a desired increase in collagen usually follows.

What Are The Risks My Pigmentation Is Cancer?

Check any spot that is asymmetric, has an irregular border, shows mixed colors, is larger than a pencil eraser, or is changing in size, shape, or color. Also watch for a spot that stands out from your other moles, or one that bleeds, itches, or won’t heal. If you feel you one of your pigmented lesions needs to be evaluated, one of our providers can help assess and advise on possible next steps.
